Please see below for our specific uniform requirements.
A proper uniform is essential to a dance education -
students are more focused and better able to participate
when they are properly prepared for class.

Tights, shoes, dance bags, and more are also available in our studio boutique.
If we do not have your size or style in stock, we will order it for you at no extra charge.

All dancers must wear a Perna Dance Center uniform leotard,
available for purchase at the studio boutique.

ALL DANCERS are also required to have their hair pulled back off of their face (including boys with long hair). Minimal jewelry, no bra straps showing, and no underwear to be worn with tights. In colder weather, younger dancers may wear a white long sleeve shirt underneath their leotard.

FAQs

  • The Perna Dance Center has a uniform leotard requirement for each dance class because we feel strongly that dance is a discipline. Just as if your child were involved in cheerleading, karate, or any sport where a standard must be upheld, the same applies for the art of dance. Dancers work harder and stay more focused if they are properly dressed for class. The studio is a 'special place' with a 'special' dress requirement.

  • Ballet slippers should be worn for all Ballet classes

Tap shoes should be worn for all Tap classes. Kinderdance dancers will be sized for and receive their tap shoes in the late Fall.

Jazz shoes should be worn for all Jazz and Contemporary classes.

Hip Hop sneakers should be worn for all Hip Hop classes

Dancers will be Barefoot for all Acro and Modern classes

Pointe shoes should be worn for Pointe and Pre-Pointe classes

  • A bun is not required for class, but dancers must have their hair pulled back and off their face, such as in a ponytail or braid. It is distracting for dancers to have to keep fixing their hair during class so please send your dancer with their hair fixed in place.
